The Development Application for the single storey Bolton Clarke Mackay 72 bed RACF is the next stage of the master plan and a continuation of existing Independent Living Units and Central Admin facilities.
There is a grand sense of arrival for residents and their visitors arriving via the port cochere and generous covered forecourt. Centered at the ‘heart’ of the building are MPRs and other communal facilities such as activity hubs, hair dresser, visitors kitchen and ancillary consultation rooms. These spaces create ‘ streets’ within the building and promote activity and engagement.
Branching off the ‘heart’ are four distinct ‘houses’, each house will contain 18 bedrooms/suites. In consultation with the University of Stirling, best practice design principles are used throughout the design of the building to cater for residents with cognitive impairment. Each ‘house’ is planned out with generous communal areas allowing the resident to feel a sense of ‘community’, and just as importantly ownership within the larger facility.
