Jon Voller B.Arch. BA
Jon joined Marchese Partners in October 2010 following the completion of several successful project collaborations. He is employed as a senior architect and urban designer.
Jon brings with him the experience gained over 40 years as a practicing architect – the majority of which were spent as a partner in the firm which still bears his name; Bligh Voller Nield. Jon retired from BVN at the end of 2003. During his time with BVN he was instrumental in developing the practice from its traditional Brisbane base into a nationally recognized design practice. He personally established the BVN Melbourne office in 1996, returning to the Brisbane office during 2001.
During 2004 and 2005 Jon lived and worked in Macao, China, where he was a senior advisor to Government, working on major sports infrastructure. This work incorporated the briefing, refinement of design, the urban integration and overview of construction of 12 major projects with a combined construction value of more than A$400 million.
Since arriving back in Queensland in 2006 Jon has worked as a design consultant with both developers and architects. During 2007/8 he completed the initial design work for Leighton Properties Pty Ltd in Melbourne of a proposed $300 million residential and office complex within the Melbourne Docklands.
He is a respected and experienced contributor and collaborator at the most senior levels in both the public and private sectors. Jon consulted to VicUrban in Melbourne for more than a decade and during that period acted as Chair of the Geelong Design Advisory.
Jon’s core skills lie in the inception and review of projects. He has the ability to quickly assess a brief or indeed a concept and to interrogate the robustness of a proposal. He regards his planning, urban design and organizational skills as his strongest assets.
