Groundbreaking Apartment Design

Marchese + Partners (M+P) Sydney office have released details of their groundbreaking designs for a new type of apartment plan for their Star Luxe project in Austin, Texas in the United States.

Inspired by Austin's fascinating art, music, and architecture scene, M+P have designed three unique floor plans for this landmark prestigious development: 'The Guitar', is an apartment shaped by the instrument's exquisite lines, 'The Salazar', is fashioned after an imagined artist within the Art Nouveau movement, and 'The International', is modelled in M+P's signature ultra-modern design style. Star Luxe is unlike any other luxurious residential project in the world, and the lakefront apartments will go on sale soon and are expected to attract international interest.

Steve Zappia, Principal and Managing Director of M+P in Sydney, said, 'The Star Luxe apartments may well be some of the most exceptional and original apartment layouts the multi-unit residential market place has ever seen. This design concept has introduced a brand new way of thinking about multi-unit developments. The themed design makes these apartments truly unique and opens up a whole new way of thinking about apartment design.'

Each of the three apartment styles at Star Luxe has truly unique interior plans and finishes. The apartments feature eclectic design themes usually found in one off apartment interiors and not multi unit developments. M+P have done nothing like this before but can see that this type of themeing could well be used on selected Australian projects in the future.

As well as flamboyantly shaped and proportioned living and bedroom areas, each apartment includes other unique features such as a safe room with comprehensive surveillance equipment, wine storage rooms, and individual lift access. The palatial 400m2 residences incorporate large balconies that allow owners to enjoy the feeling of a lakefront private home with urban style and living conveniences.

Star Luxe residents will also take advantage of the M+P designed property's four acres which includes a private spa, outdoor pool with BBQ, private cinema, pet exercise area and a lush Zen garden.

This is truly a unique design from M+P that breaks new ground and has already received attention from the WorldArchitecture.com, Wall Street Journal, GlobeSt.com and Forbes.

Leading Brickwork Designers

M+P are fast becoming the world's leading design experts in the adaptive re-use of Brick Kiln Structures. M+P have recently been approached to work on a large brickworks site in the UK. The Stewartby Brickworks in Bedfordshire was home to the world's largest kiln, producing 500 million bricks a year at the height of production. M+P were approached to work on this project due to their extensive experience in Australia working on several brickworks projects including 'The Kilns' in Brookvale which converted a former brickworks site and kiln into luxury apartments. M+P are also currently working on a design for the conversion of the Eastwood brickworks and have also consulted on concepts for a brickworks conversion in Victoria.

Futuristic Pier Design

M+P have teamed up with a local property group to prepare an Expression of Interest to Rockdale Council for their new pier and marina concept at Brighton-Le-Sands. The pier, which will include unique public facilities, will be the catalyst for a complete overhaul for the area and is aiming to create a new type of publicly accessible marine development. M+P's new Innovation initiative played a key role in the development of the final breathtaking design. A number of innovation workshops were undertaken with the project team including the services, structural and ESD and marine development experts, as well as the projects construction management team from Southern Cross Constructions. These workshops helped develop the unique features of the development whilst also helping to facilitate the project's feasibility and construction methodology.

Cammeray Square Nears Completion

M+P designed Cammeray Square in Sydney's Cammeray is fast nearing completion. The project is a landmark example of contemporary mixed-use development for Sydney and another example of M+P's innovative approach to problem solving. M+P's design concept was awarded the project over other leading architects because it challenged the North Sydney Council controls for the site in order to create a much better outcome for our client and the public at large.

The design is centred around the creation of a large public square which is activated at ground level by commercial and retail uses and is surrounded by 4 storey mixed use buildings which include residential and commercial uses. This approach (instead of councils prescribed 3 storey town house controls) has created a much more exciting development that provides a significant public benefit in the creation of a public square and also a much more feasible development model. The project has been constructed by Southern Cross Constructions and is due to open very soon.
