The Biscuit Factory Complete

Stage 1 of Marchese + Partners innovative Biscuit Factory Apartment project in Camperdown is now complete. The project has been developed on the site of the former Weston's Biscuit Factory, which operated from the early 1920's. The first stage involved the adaptive re-use and reconstruction of the original Biscuit Factory building into two separate buildings linked via two glass bridges. Senior Associate Partner in charge of the project Steven Isaacs said 'Separating the factory into two buildings was an innovative idea that enabled the two sides of the project to be linked together via a new pedestrian plaza. This plaza and connection are now a feature for the development'.

The Biscuit Factory provides the most sought after aspects of inner city living, blending vibrant urban culture with cutting edge design and a sense of tranquility. The apartments feature 'gallery' like interior spaces, light filled, with high ceilings and expansive glass areas. These factors contribute to the overall feeling of luxury and privacy.

Offering a total of 101 apartments of 1,2,3 and 4 bedroom loft and terrace style configurations this project highlights the benefits of re-generating former industrial areas into well located residential and live/work neighbourhoods. The project was completed on time and on budget by Southern Cross Constructions and recently received a prestigious High Commendation at the AIB Awards in the $20-$50 million category.

As well as architecture and interior design services, M+P's sister company Addition Creative developed the project branding and marketing collateral including print and web based material. The project is being marketed as Sydney's new Soho District, an iconic development in New York loft style tradition, encapsulating unique work and living spaces unprecedented in design aesthetic and practicality.

Marchese + Partners International are one of Australia's leading designers and masterplanners of medium and high density residential projects. The vision for The Biscuit Factory demonstrates our capabilities in adding value through innovative design and our practical approach to problem solving.

Minton House Strata Offices

Construction of M+P's winning design for the conversion of Minton House in Kings Cross into prestige strata office suites started in June. The project involves the conversion of the existing prominent 1940's building into 30 luxurious strata office suites. Marchese Partners Interiors winning concept for the project involved building on the original period character of the building to create a luxurious art deco inspired ambience much like that of a boutique hotel.

The existing period features include a dramatic terrazzo stair case and tiled entry lobby which will be retained and will become a focus for the refurbished building. The existing space will be restored and the space will be complemented by the addition of new bevelled mirrored panels, feature carpet, large ottoman and pendant lighting to create a refined and plush period environment. The 30 Suites will feature patterned glass entry doors and fan lights with thick carpets throughout whilst being wired for the latest communication technologies to cater for all forms of business requirements.

The project is a reflection of the changing nature of the Kings Cross area and demonstrates the re-gentrification and lifestyle shift in this part of Sydney. The area is currently being refreshed and is home to an increasing number of vibrant new commercial, tourism and lifestyle businesses.

Winning this limited design competition demonstrates M+P's ability when working with an existing building, to understand the essence of the building and to create a design that works with its character to benefit the final design outcome. This project adds to the portfolio of completed boutique commercial developments completed by Marchese Partners which includes boutique commercial buildings at 71 Walker Street North Sydney and 33 McMahon Street Hurstville.
