The Kilns Complete

Construction of 'The Kilns' project in Brookvale is now complete.

Constructed By Southern Cross Constructions the project involves the redevelopment of the existing Austral Brickworks site in Brookvale into a remarkable residential development featuring the adaptive re-use of the original Brick Kiln and Chimney. The project is unique in Sydney as not only does it incorporate the adaptive re use of the original brick kiln structure, but it is also is located in a dramatic natural setting, being set in a deep valley surrounded by natural bushland.

Marchese Partners have been instrumental in the success of the development by re-designing a previous scheme to enable a successful development Application to be negotiated through Council.

The project clusters 5 new building blocks around the existing kiln and chimney structure in the centre of the site with a mix of two storey townhouses and 3 story apartments as well as the unique town homes constructed within the existing kiln structure. The resulting spaces between the buildings have been landscaped with lawns and paving to form a green common that links the various building entries.

M+P Wins Resort Hotel.

Marchese partners have been commissioned to design a 200 apartment resort hotel in Port Douglas Queensland.

The resort is planned to take advantage of its spectacular setting and provide a new benchmark for Far North Queensland apartment design. Currently Marchese Partners is working on a number of projects in Queensland including projects in Townsville, Hervey bay and Caloundra.


Stella Breaks Ground in US.

Marchese Partners Stella Project in San Diego has commenced construction. The project consisting of 85 maisonette apartments has been selling well and is the first of Marchese Partners' US projects to commence construction.

It is expected that the project will be completed in mid 2007.

Wallabi Point Beach Houses Complete

Marchese + Partners, has just completed four holiday beach houses at Wallabi Point on the NSW Mid North Coast.

Architects Steven Isaacs, Tony Leung, and Scott Buscall conceptualised the project as four timber clad boxes sitting effortlessly over a masonry base to create a sense of lightness to merge seamlessly with the coastline.  The project maximizes the full potential of the block by incorporating four beach houses on a 1000 m2 block subdivided into four Torrens title lots. Due to the very tight budget for the project, Marchese Partners ensured that building materials were sourced locally to reduce lead-time and transportation costs, while conventional standard construction systems (such as cavity brick walls and timber framed upper floors and roofs) were employed to ensure a simple construction process.

The efficient planning of the houses has allowed each house to take full advantage of the distinctive views and position of each allotment, maximizing natural light and sun light throughout the day. A palette of natural materials including stone and timber was used to reinforce the site's connection to nature, while the muted neutral tones and minimal decorative elements of the interior provide little to detract from the unique coastal experience. The smooth flow between indoor and outdoor spaces is realised via sliding glass doors connecting the interior to coastal sea breezes. Private open spaces are linked to communal living areas to further increase the perception of space.

This development perfectly showcases Marchese + Partners' commercially sensitive design ability. Efficiently planned from inception, carefully controlled and executed during construction, and successfully completed on time and on an extremely tight budget, this project proves that you don't have to spend a huge amount to create distinctive architecture. The project has been really well received by the local community and council, having been approved in only 5 months with sales enquiries also flooding in on completion.

19 Greycliffe Street, Completed.

Construction of Marchese Partners' design for a duplex at 19 Greycliffe Street Queenscliff is complete. The project is Marchese Partners' fifth in Greycliffe Street and demonstrates our expertise in procuring development approvals in what can be a difficult locality for development.

The site was subject to an unsuccessful Section 96 application in a Land and Environment Court action before Marchese and Partners was appointed to redesign the project. Working pro-actively on behalf of the client Ralph Stellar and Pui-Yu Lee, lead sensitive negotiations with Council and a Mediation with local residents, to successfully negotiate a Section 96 approval in late 2003.

Having secured development approval, Marchese and Partners proceeded with design development and documentation for the project. The development features two 3 bedroom Duplex Apartments in what can be described as modern beach side vernacular architecture. With large living areas overlooking Manly Beach the two apartments also feature large terraces which take advantage of the view and encourage an outdoor beachside lifestyle.

The lower ground floor unit of was sold in 2006 for significantly more than was anticipated thereby achieving an outstanding result for the clients.
