Founded in Sydney, Australia by Eugene Marchese and Steve Zappia, the organisation has grown into a highly skilled and respected integrated design firm that continues to challenge existing paradigms to deliver market-changing projects.

Eugene Marchese - B.Arch RAIA Principal and Chairman Nominated Architect NSW (5976)   Eugene Marchese is Chairman of Marchese Partners International overseeing the strategic direction of the group in its Australian, New Zealand, Asian and UK activities. He is the Founding Principal of Marchese Partners, which he has guided to tremendous success since its inception in 1994. Under Eugene’s stewardship, Marchese Partners has become one of Australia’s most successful design practices, offering a unique mix of innovative design solutions with a commercial sensitivity rarely found in Architect practices. Eugene is passionate about the continued expansion of the practice in the areas of Seniors Living and Aged Care design throughout Australia and Asia. Eugene has recently completely post graduate studies in Ageing and Dementia and is focused on changing the Senior Living and Aged Care environments around the world through his unique “Esprit De Vie” model. He has been leading research and development into various “best practice” models around the world and translating those principles into local contexts in various countries and cultures. This innovation together with his passion for the sector has led Eugene to guest speaking roles on trends in Seniors Living Design in various Seniors Living and Aged care conferences in Australia and Asia.
Steve Zappia - B.Arch (Hons) RAIA Principal and Managing Director Nominated Architect NSW (6535)
Steve is a founding partner of Marchese Partners. He is now Managing Director of Marchese Partners Australia. Steve’s role includes general management, client liaison and strategic design and construction leadership. Steve has been instrumental in the completion of many of Marchese Partners’ most recognised projects including; the Village Docklands Masterplan and V1 tower in Melbourne, and in Sydney; Paramount Apartments, 185 Macquarie Street Apartments, Republic 1 and 2, Top of The Town and the Bondi Icebergs. Recently, Steve has overseen the detail design of a number of large scale Seniors Living and Aged Care projects including, Uniting Care Ageing’s Mayflower Westmead Masterplan, Watermark Caste Cove, Links Seaside, Mark Moran at Vaucluse and Ocean Grove Dee Why.
Geoff Shaw - M.Arch Principal and Practice Director – Sydney Geoff Shaw as a Principal of Marchese Partners brings extensive professional experience in the delivery of major projects across a wide range of sectors. As a Director of numerous architectural firms Geoff, through his Australian and international experience brings a strong commercial acumen and Client focused thinking to all Marchese projects. Geoff has successfully delivered a wide range of significant integrated residential, aged care, seniors living and prominent 4-5-star hotel projects both locally and internationally. In addition, his involvement in regional business oriented projects spanning high end residential and low cost budget solutions will add value and contribute to deliver for our Clients projects to suit market conditions and expectations.
Nikki Beckman B.Arch (hons), B.Sc, ARBV (17847) Higher Degree by Research student (PhD) National Director of Research & Innovation - Nikki has been appointed National Director of Research & Innovation. A dedicated and highly motivated Architect, Nikki brings a wealth of experience in the Aged Care, Health Science and Education sectors in the pursuit of high-quality, innovative and enquiry led evidenced based design solutions. Based in Melbourne, Nikki has a National platform within Marchese Partners to foster academic partnerships, undertake applied research, promote thought leadership and support the dissemination of knowledge and sector intelligence between all Marchese Partners offices serving our international, national and locally based Clients.
Bruno R. Gallacè B.Sc (Arch) B.Arch (Syd) ARB Bruno is responsible for the company’s operations in the role of Client business development, practice and team management, project coordination together with the marketing and design of projects. Over the past 30 years, Bruno has garnered extensive professional experience in Australia, the UK and South East Asia, notably with practices in London, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Hong Kong. Bruno has proven professional experience in the sectors of Aged Care, Corporate Office Interiors, Hotel & Resort Lifestyle Developments, Multi-Unit Residential, Urban Design, Master Planning and Re-Zoning. Together with being the joint Principal Partner in the London office, Bruno’s accumulated senior management experience embraces the full range of professional duties. This has enabled him to provide Clients with the expected level of management and design excellence in the delivery of professional services.
Jon Voller - B.Arch BA Principal – Brisbane Jon joined Marchese Partners in October 2010 following the completion of several successful project collaborations. Jon brings with him the experience gained over 40 years as a practicing architect – the majority of which were spent as a partner in the firm which still bears his name; Bligh Voller Nield. Jon retired from BVN at the end of 2003. During his time with BVN he was instrumental in developing the practice from its traditional Brisbane base into a nationally recognized design practice. He is a respected and experienced contributor and collaborator at the most senior levels in both the public and private sectors. Jon consulted to VicUrban in Melbourne for more than a decade and during that period acted as Chair of the Geelong Design Advisory. Jon’s core skills lie in the inception and review of projects. He has the ability to quickly assess a brief or indeed a concept and to interrogate the robustness of a proposal. He regards his planning, urban design and organizational skills as his strongest assets.
Roberto Garcia - M.arch Principal – Madrid Roberto joined Marchese Partners International Sydney Office in 2013 as a Senior Project Architect. He has extensive management, design and delivery skills which is demonstrated in his involvement in an extensive portfolio of award-winning projects ranging from Multi-Unit Residential, Hospitality, Independent Living and Aged Care from Client Briefing, Concept Design, Documentation and Delivery. Having completed this successful period in the Sydney Office, Roberto is now the Principal in our Madrid, Spain Office which was inaugurated in 2018.
Frank Ehrenberg - B.Arch (Hons) Principal – Brisbane Frank is educated in Germany and has over 20 years of experience of working on high profile projects across the commercial, mixed use, residential and institutional sectors in Australia. Prior to joining Marchese Partners, Frank was the practice director of a leading Brisbane based architectural studio. In this role, and over a period of 11 years he has successfully managed large scale complex projects, often leading and collaborating with joint venture design teams. Frank believes that the key drivers for a successful project are a clear and uncompromised commitment to his client's needs, the project's context and a strong focus on a collaborative and iterative approach with a suitably skilled and integrated team.He has a clear understanding of how to add value to projects and at the same time contribute to the excellence of their design.
Shane Thompson - DipArch QIT    LFRAIA    Principal – Brisbane Shane is a prominent Australian architect who brings a wealth of expertise as joint Principal of Marchese Partners Brisbane office. Shane’s work, from beautiful houses to major urban developments, is well known for its sensitivity to place with a particular interest in materials and tectonics. Shane's work includes a broad range of public, residential, commercial and urban design projects which have been highly recognised. Shane has been responsible for some of the region’s most successful and innovative design projects, including The Athlete’s Village for London 2012 Olympics, Lavarack Barracks Redevelopment Living in Accommodation, University of the Sunshine Coast Faculty of Arts, Queensland College of Art, Flow Apartments and the University of the Sunshine Coast Innovation Centre. In honour of his outstanding contribution to the advancement of the profession, Shane was elevated to Life Fellow of the Australian Institute of Architects in 2017.
Eugene Sellors - ba (hons) MCSD Head of Interiors – London Eugene is the Senior Associate leading London’s Interior Design team. He is a creative interior designer with an extensive portfolio centred on high-end residential, retail and the lifestyle leisure sector. His pre-eminent skill set embraces design concepts, detailed design, and freehand sketching. Eugenehas embraced the later living design ethos at Marchese Partners and is bringing these principles together with his flair for apartment and amenity design. Eugene has a strong educational and professional background from the University of East Anglia having attained a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) with a focus on a TV and Film Design Degree. As a Member of the Charter Society of Designers Eugene works with undergraduates at various design University courses on mentor and portfolio reviews.
Scott Colegate - B.Arch AIA Principal – Adelaide
Scott has extensive experience in architectural design and project delivery having worked nationally on a range of project types including educational facilities, aged and health care, corporate and commercial development, municipal facilities, sports facilities and residential development.
Scott’s specialised skills in project feasibility, brief formulation and master plan studies ensure the full potential of building and development projects is realised from an early stage. He seeks to innovate in ways that create meaningful value for clients; delivering projects that look good, work well, feel great, fit comfortably into the environment and are easily implementable.
Scott maintains a strong research and development focus in the Adelaide practice, benefiting clients and projects through the application of the latest international learnings, models and trends within the local South Australian context.
Pav Dunski - B.App.Sc B.Arch (Hons) Principal – Canberra Pav is the Principal of the Marchese Partners Canberra office. Originally from Canberra, Pav has spent a number of years working in Melbourne on several high profile major projects. Pav brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his role as principal of the Canberra office. He posseses a high level of design, technical skill and construction knowledge. His project experience includes multiple mixed use, residential, retail and commercial developments. Pav brings an energy and drive to the Canberra practice. His experience combined with his ability to build lasting professional relationships will ensure successful project outcomes for our Canberra based work
Ralph Kanfer – BA Hons M.Arch ARB Senior Associate - London Ralph is a Senior Associate with a wealth of experience in the design and delivery of major residential, mixed use and commercial projects. With over 20 years’ experience, Ralph has worked with some of the industry’s leading practices and has a proven track record of successfully delivering of projects of varying scale and complexity. Ralph is overseeing the technical delivery of the Guild Living portfolio, managing the design teams in London and Madrid as well as coordinating the Guild Living Alliance Group workflow.
Blair Keenan - Principal – Auckland Office Blair is the Principal of the New Zealand office and has been with Marchese Partners since 2009. He is a graduate of the Sydney Institute of Technology with over 15 years’ experience in the construction and architectural industries backed up by several years in the hospitality industry.  With a project management background, high level of documentation skills and a focus on client satisfaction, Blair has an enviable ability to work with builders to achieve the best outcome for Marchese Partners' clients.  Blair has the proven ability to successfully take projects from conception to completion and has considerable experience throughout Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands designing hotels and resorts, high density residential developments, retirement living, luxury housing, schools and government services.
Simon Johnson - B.Des (Hons) Principal – Christchurch

After spending six years with Marchese Partners in Brisbane Simon has returned home as the Principal of the Christchurch office. Simon has developed extensive experience in multi-residential, mixed use, education, seniors living & aged care sectors.

Simon’s background in residential design in New Zealand has assisted in the development of his diverse skillset which combines a passion for design, with project management through to documentation delivery. Specialising in the development of projects from inception to design realisation, Simon’s project leadership skills and experience have allowed him to hone his abilities to work collaboratively on a variety of projects.

Stewart Dean - B.Arch BA (Hons) Principal – London Originally from London, Stewart joined Marchese Partners in 2003 and in 2007 was promoted to Senior Associate in the Sydney office. In 2008 Stewart was tasked with setting up the Marchese Partners Brisbane office. Stewart was instrumental in the successful expansion and growth of the Brisbane office. With his proven track record in practice management and large scale residential and senior living projects, Stewart now leads the Marchese Partners expansion into UK and Europe. Stewart’s core skills lie within design, client management and project delivery and he has an excellent understanding of multi unit residential, mixed use, seniors living and age care design.
Siddharth Mansukhani - B.Des.Arch B.Arch (Hons) Principal – Kuala Lumpur Siddharth joined Marchese Partners in 2007 as a Junior Architect. His hard work and passion helped him progress quickly to a Job Captain role on a number of major residential design and construction projects such as BAIE in Neutray Bay and Clemton Park in Sydney’s Inner West. In 2011 Siddharth relocated to Guangzhou, China to open and manage Marchese Partners first office in Asia. He is now the Principal of the Marchese Partners Kuala Lumpur office and oversees the production of major detailed documentation packages for a number of significant projects. Siddharth’s technical experience and understanding ensures the high quality and efficiency of Marchese Partners processes and products.
Paolo Salotto - B.Arch Senior Associate With an established portfolio of architectural work in Australia, the United Kingdom and Italy, Paolo has the proven ability to develop innovative design solutions for his client’s projects. Paolo has built his reputation at Marchese Partners over the last decade leading the design of major residential, mixed use, seniors living and Aged care projects in Australia, Asia and the United States. Paolo’s high-level design ability enables him to deliver outstanding and iconic design solutions quickly and efficiently. Paolo brings both flair and pragmatism to his projects ensuring his projects are both beautiful and efficient.
Andrew Earwicker - ba (hons) arch ARB riba  Practice Director - London   Andrew joined the practice as Practice Manager and Senior Associate in Spring 2018, bringing a wealth of experience on large scale mixed use projects, and significant delivery in the Residential, Hotels, Leisure and Retail sectors. As operational lead, Andrew’s direction and extensive knowledge of the construction process, and sustainable design concepts, provides unprecedented value to our clients. With over 20 years’ experience, Andrew has worked with some of the industry’s leading practices, and his track record in the provision of complex schemes is widespread throughout the UK, Europe, Middle East and Australia. In conjunction with his day-to-day role managing the design teams in London, Andrew is currently working with a number of our clients in the delivery of both Later Living Extra Care schemes, and more specialised dementia care focused developments.
Paul Chang - B.Arch B.Built Env. (Arch) Senior Associate – Brisbane With over 16 years of experience, Paul is well versed in working on different typologies and numerous awarding-winning buildings across multiple sectors including, seniors living & aged care, multi-unit residential, commercial and mixed-use, education, and retail. He joined Marchese Partners in March 2017 and was soon promoted to Senior Associate, where he has worked on several key projects for the Brisbane office including Tarragindi Retirement Village and Ashgrove Golf Club. Knowledgeable in a wide range of sectors and from concept design through to completion, Paul has a natural flair for architecture and design and has an excellent understanding of the execution of complex projects. He believes that architecture is more about the ‘journey’ of collaboration and testing of ideas than simply the outcome of the built environment.
Peter Sinn - Senior Associate With over 17 years’ experience and more than 12 years at Marchese Partners, Peter is charged with leading our construction documentation team. Peter is well versed in leading all aspects of the documentation process from client liaison, brief formulation, project design team coordination, documentation production and team management. His portfolio of completed projects includes a number of Marchese Partners most significant projects in the last few years including numerous large-scale multi-unit residential, mixed-use & Age care projects such as Granville Place, B1 Burwood and Mark Moran Vaucluse. His dedication, ability to resolve complex design and construction issues and detail coordination abilities are some of the reasons why he has been successful in delivering a wide range of projects for our clients.
Richard Darvill - Senior Associate   Richard is an accomplished senior architect and leader of our construction documentation team. Richard has extensive Australian and international experience in the design and documentation of a wide variety of project types and scales, including multi-unit residential, seniors living / Aged care luxury hotels, large A grade commercial buildings and boutique retail and restaurant fit-outs. Richard’s collaborative working style results in a cohesive design solution, identifying and exploring opportunities to improve the outcomes at every stage of a project. He specialises in the leadership and efficient delivery and management of architectural documentation, bringing clarity and direction to even the most complex projects.        
Lynsey Maloy - B.Arch (Hons) Senior Associate Interior Design Lynsey is the Senior Associate responsible for the company’s Interior Design operations in all aspects of Client relationships, project coordination, team management and design of projects. She is a graduate of London Guildhall University with 15 years experience in residential, aged care and hospitality interior and architectural design. Her passion and dedication to the design world has enabled her to deliver projects from conceptual design through to construction documentation and on site assistance. With a keen eye for detail and efficiency with deadlines she has become an integral part of the marchese team and leading the design team to deliver the best solution to the client. Lynsey has recently been involved in the design and delivery of several large aged care and residential projects across Australia.
Axel Klein - M.Arch Design Director Axel joined Marchese Partners from Madrid, Spain in 2011 as a Project Architect. Axel has significant European design experience and has been involved in numerous aged care and multi-unit residential projects from mid to high-rise, covering all aspects of the project from design concept stages, master planning to construction. Axel’s European design sensitivities and nuances have provided Marchese Partners with a deeper, richer and broader set of design skills with which to tackle complex projects. Axel’s recent work whilst at Marchese Partners clearly demonstrates this influence.
Enrique Blanco de Cordova - M.Arch Associate Director Enrique is an accomplished Senior Architect with over 20 years’ experience. Enrique understands that creating value and financial success for his clients through his design is of paramount importance. Since Joining Marchese Partners, Enrique has been involved in the concept and detail design of a number of High profile projects including UCA Mayflower Westmead, Oxford Central Epping, AVEO Shortland Newcastle Seniors Living Master Plan and Catarina Master Plan estate, apartments and town homes, and the Waterbrook Bayview Seniors Living Development.
Linh Khuat – B.arch Associate - Canberra Linh joined Marchese Partners in September 2014 and was promoted to Associate in 2018 with over 16 years of professional architectural experience and construction knowledge gained in Australia, Vietnam and Japan. She has valuable professional experience encompassing Hotel and Resort Lifestyle Developments, Multi-Unit Residential, Multi-use Retail and Commercial, Urban Design, Master Planning, Retirement and Transportable Accommodation/Housing. Linh has been the lead contact in our Canberra office on a variety of projects in the residential and retail sectors ranging from feasibility studies, detailed design, construction documentation, project management and coordination. Linh has a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn combined with a keen eye for design and detailing.
Rulla Asmar - B.Arch (hons) Senior Associate Partner – Melbourne Rulla’s project experience spans the Seniors Living, Aged Care, Multi-Unit Residential, Hospitality and Education sectors including many years’ experience designing high-end quality environments, in both architecture and interior design. Rulla has extensive experience in the Seniors Living and Aged Care sector having worked on numerous projects over many years. She is knowledgeable and passionate about the sector and is a key member of our Seniors Living and Aged Care leadership team. Adept at stakeholder engagement and user group consultation, Rulla leads strategic design workshops and oversees her project teams from concept design through to practical completion. Rulla continuously fosters close-knit Client relationships and is always guided by the principles of care and authenticity. She is inspired by designs that empower and enliven personal stories and is a keen advocate of designed places to the resultant shared narratives. Rulla regularly presents at National events including Leading Age Services Australia (LASA) National Congress presenting “The Feeling of Space” where she discussed the importance of interior design that promotes integrated associations that enable social connectivity. In addition to her professional work, Rulla is committed to mentoring emerging designers, teaching design at RMIT University.
