Guild Living, Epsom UK
The purchase of the site at Epsom Hospital by Guild Living is an ideal synergy between the two providers. The masterplan has been designed to connect the Hospital to the North, with the Millennium Green to the South, whilst creating a large central public realm space, activated by the surrounding amenity uses.
The amenity spaces are open to the public and the Guild members and intergenerational activity is encouraged. There is an on-site nursery for the use of the local residents and the NHS staff. The cafe, bar and restaurant will also encourage interaction and activation of the external landscaped spaces.
There is a mix of 306 Guild living residences, 28 Guild care suites. 10 Guild care residences and 24 Key worker apartments, that will be utilised by the key workers at the Hospital.
The architecture is rich in texture, utilising the familiarity of brickwork and the elegance of metal panels, whilst breaking down the scale and mass of the buildings. Greening of the Facade has been employed to soften the buildings and create a dialogue with the Guild members and the changing seasons.
