RSL Care Darlington
RSL Care’s Darlington co-located property at Banora Point includes a vacant 2600m2 site within the last remaining masterplan stage. A new 3 storey wing connected to the existing Residential Aged Care Facility is proposed under a Development Application. The new wing will comprise of 33 high-care suites on ground level, with 38 serviced independent living apartments split across two upper levels. Other notable communal areas incorporated within the new facility include; multi-purpose spaces, home care facilities, health and well-being, outdoor BBQ areas, activities shed, and a child’s play area. All of which have been developed to promote interaction between residents and visitors, with a strong focus on independence.
The overall design has a dementia-friendly focus, the new high-care component includes 15 special care units specifically catering for residents with dementia. The contemporary facade language has been developed to create a new identity for the wing extension, whilst complementing the existing buildings adjacent. The orientation of the building has afforded spectacular views of the Tweed Valley from large balcony spaces, balanced with façade treatments addressing the western aspect.
